Belmar Police Make Heroin and Cocaine Arrests

Multiple Narcotics Arrest on Monday

heroin possessionBelmar Police had a busy day on Monday having handled two narcotics-related arrests. The first incident happened during a traffic stop when officers found hundreds of heroin folds in the vehicle owned by Keeon Grimes, a resident of Toms River. Grimes and his passenger were charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute in a school zone, and heroin possession.

NJ Heroin Penalties

New Jersey law states that possession of heroin is a third degree crimes and could lead to a 5 year prison sentence. The state’s penalties are more severe for possession of heroin with the intent to distribute on or near property owned/leased by a school

Monmouth County Employee arrested for Cocaine Possession

cocaine possessionEarlier that evening, Belmar’s boys in blue found 3 bags of cocaine in the vehicles of Earl Emery. Earl was charged with cocaine possession and released on $10,000 bail. In NJ, the simple cocaine possession penalty carries a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment, though Pre-Trial Intervention may be available.
